Hakima Payne has had two documentaries made about her work. The first is "Sister Doula" directed and produced by Emmett Williams of Listen, Tell, Media. The second is "Pregnancy and Prejudice" written, produced and directed by Avrell Stokes of Docucourse. Both documentaries are available for viewing that include a panel discussion afterward with Hakima Payne and the director. Please contact us to schedule a viewing in your area. 

Sister Doula

Sister Doula took five years to film. The director, Emmett Williams of Listen Tell Media filmed this documentary while following nurse, Hakima Payne around the country as she delivered speeches and doula trainings through her nonprofit, Uzazi Village. This film takes a deep dive into the world of Black doulas and the healthcare system inequities that inspired their rise.

Pregnancy & Prejudice

Filmed on location in Kansas City, MO, this documentary delves into Hakima Payne’s inspiration as a birthing mother and a community-based doula to found Uzazi Village, a nonprofit organization devoted to serving Black women in pregnancy and birth care through the utilizations of doulas.
